Escalaphobia

So I’m someone who will avoid escalators anytime possible & I’ve had this fear ever since 2017.

One day in July 2017, I was going to this Tigers game with two of my cousins & one of my grandfathers. A month before this, I broke my foot & so having to go up & down places was pretty difficult.

I had to do a piggy back ride on my grandfather because I of course can’t stand on the escalator.

All the negatives were there that day. It’s a hot day, my grandfather is sweaty (as always), & I forgot how to stay on someone’s back during a piggy back ride. One of the worst things though was the fact that this escalator was so long. We were on there for at least 2 minutes. I’m really trying to stay on, but I’m losing my grip as we get higher & higher.

At this point, we are almost done with this escalator. We’re pretty high up & I was so close to falling off of his sweaty body. I didn’t want to accept the fact that I was about to die & also hurt other people as I go down this escalator.

Now obviously I’m typing about this so I’m alive. I somehow was able to stay on for the long amount of time. It felt like I somehow just beat death because a little after thinking about how much I didn’t want to die, I kind of just accepted what would’ve happened.
