Facebook

I was wondering, how many of you have or still have a Facebook account?

I was on mine the other day, and I was thinking how much the site, in my opinion, has declined over the last few years. For the most part, my feed has become a bunch of posts that I have no interest in. I do realize that I can click on a friend only feed but when I do, it's pretty much the same set of friends bothering to post anything.

Basically, the only reason I'm on it is because I'm involved in a local political organization that posts all the meetings and events there and I follow a Pacemaker support group. If it wasn't for those two things, I probably would have deleted my Facebook account long ago. Although, I must admit,  that I also recently made a Digital Creator account there as a means to promote my YouTube channel but I kind of sloughed off on that.

What's interesting, some of the same friends I talk to who are as disappointed as I am with what Facebook has become, seem to be unwilling to join non-corporate social media platforms such as Mastodon, or perhaps even this site. Though, in all fairness, they might not know FriendRewind exists yet. Interestingly, it seems the only exception to that is that they readily joined BlueSky Social.

I am posting this as both a blog and a bulletin. On the blog,  I categorized this post as "Life," but at the same time I resent how much Facebook has become intertwined with daily life.
