So as I was perusing Tubi, which is where I find all of the weird obscure movies I like, I stumbled upon this one and my interest was immediately piqued. This one was in Welsh. I had never seen a Welsh-language film before. Pretty easy decision.
Okay, so first: yay for portraying archaeology in an actually kind of accurate manner (and with a woman archaeologist!!!!)! Second: its one of the earliest fully-Welsh-language films we have, and the second one in the horror genre. Very cool! Third: old man finds something cool in his garden and immediately puts in on display in his home before his wife makes him get rid of it. Old man activities, my grandpa would probably do the same.
For a 1980s cursed object horror film, its pretty standard. Like, there's nothing too crazy going on here. I like the main character, the archaeologist Dr. Vaughn. She's cool. The (vague) inclusion of Celtic myths was cool too.
But yeah its pretty much like any other cursed object film from this time. It was just. Not that interesting, language aside. Also the ending was unsatisfying I'm gonna be honest.
5/10
It was a movie!
