Gaming Unpopular Opinions

I promise this is the last one for the time being. I'm just trying to transfer over some of my SpaceHey posts over.

  • With a few exceptions, the more popular a game is, the less interest I have in it. I just get so sick and tired of people talking about the same thing over and over again. Many will blindly like something just because the internet told them to. Hey if you're into games like GTA or Mecca Chameleon that's great.
  • BOTW was a bit of a disappointment for me. I was super hyped for this game when it was first announced, and was part of the reason I got my switch. Everyone was giving it a 10/10, but for me it's more of a 7/10. It has some good elements in it, but the breakable weapons, open world with nothing to do, lack of dungeons, somewhat forgettable characters, and overly repetitive shrines made it a bit more of a grind then I would have liked.
  • If you want to play any game from the N64, Playstation, or Dreamcast for the first time, don't play the originals if possible. These games have aged so poorly that they end up being really frustrating to go back and play. Remakes will be the better option for this era of games.
  • Atlus has kinda been pissing me off. Every time I see a release relating to Persona it makes my eye twinge. Atlus has been focusing so heavily on Persona that they have been neglecting their other games. I'm a long time Trauma Center fan, so the fact we haven't gotten a new game in over 15 years, or at the very least a PC remake of all the games makes me very angery! I know I'm not the only one, as Cutting Edge:Roots of Mutation is currently in the works.
  • Indie horror is way too oversaturated now. It feels like so many games releasing are quick cash grabs to chase the FNAF trend.
  • FNF was a fun game with a bunch of awesome mods ruined by a terrible fanbase. You could also put Minecraft, Roblox, or even Fortnite in here as well. Moral of the story; when TikTok kids get into something, shit hits the fan.
  • Girly or licenced games do not always equal shovelware. Style Savvy is a very girly series, but each game is lovingly made[except for Fashion Dreamer. We don't talk about Fashion Dreamer.] Obviously Battle for Bikini Bottom/Cosmic Shake/Titans of the Tide are all Spongebob games that are also well made. A game doesn't need gruff graphics or be based on an original property to be a real game.
  • I would rather play a rough game with unique mechanics than a perfectly polished title that's extremely derivative.
  • The physical vs digital debate is a bit too shallow. What we should really be arguing is for truly offline titles with single player or local multiplayer options. The issues are more about always online DRM, which has been prevalent in games[including physical disks] for about 20-25 years. BTW you don't actually own the game. You own a license to experience the media for as long as the DRM/servers are up. These rights can be taken away from you at any time for any reason. It sucks, but that is how the industry has always been. It was just harder to restrict players in the past.
  • On a related note, Sony's decision to end physical media production in 2028 sucks but doesn't surprise me. The gaming industry has been moving in this direction for the past 10-15 years or so. PCs haven't included disk drives for quite some time, and most gamers just buy PC games digitally anyway.
  • Also on a related note, both physical and digital have their positives and negatives. Physical takes up less space, can be played on multiple systems easily, and can be sold later, but can become damaged, still are affected by DRMs, and often have stock supply issues. Digital doesn't require you to carry around disks/cards, is cheaper to buy, and can be transferred to consoles of different generations, but can be removed at any point, take up large amounts of space, and often can't be refunded or sold.
  • Not all mobile games are souless cash grabs. Granted most are, but there are some gems if you know where to look. Animal Crossing Pocket Camp is just such an example.
  • I swear people only like Palworld because they hate Nintendo. Beside the pal mechanic[and even then], it's just yet another open world survival game, and those are a dime a dozen now.
  • The PC vs console argument is dumb. Both PCs and consoles have their uses, and same with the physical vs digital debate, their positives and negatives. Arguing for one over the other makes you look like a prick who needs to go touch grass.
  • The Switch 2 is not meant to be a new groundbreaking console. It's a refinement to the aging hardware of the Switch 1. I agree it's too expensive, but for what it is, it's great. The screen is better, the joycons are far more comfortable, and now you have two charging ports.
  • Pokemon Legends Z-A is a fun game. Agreed that $70 for the base game and $30 for the DLC is pretty ridiculous, but that's not exclusive to just this game. Have you seen how much the 2K series games are? Many of the complaints feel very superficial[lack of voice acting, gamecube looking textures, etc] and come off as a "I didn't play it but I still want to complain for attention" vibe. It absolutely has its flaws[Why the hell for a game that emphasizes parkour can I not jump?!], but it really isn't as bad as the internet wants you to believe it is.
  • There's a difference between preservation, piracy, and bootlegging, each with their own morality. Preservation is when a game that is otherwise inaccessible to most[whether it was only available on disks for an old system, or has been delisted]is accessible for free. Preservation is always morally correct, as it keeps media from becoming lost, and births a new generation of fans. Piracy is accessing a game for free that you can otherwise purchase. I don't condone piracy, as it punishes people who want to buy the game, and many pro piracy people come off as arrogant. Bootlegging is selling illegal copies. Bootlegging is never morally okay, and quite scummy.

nice opinions

but how about you post them under my forum all about that

:troll face:

also preservation and piracy and becoming more intertwined as time goes on

i also dont buy the fandoms ruined minecraft fortnite and roblox

fnf was always a kid thing 1 it was free 2 it was kn a browser

minecraft isnt ruined not even close the community is super segmented but unlike the roblox and fortnite it isnt bound to the userbase as singleplayer was always its main thing

roblox sucks because of the company rather then the playerbase

fortnite its just a kids game played by kids so its worst crime is being cringe which isnt that bad

also HUGELY disagree with the remakes is better then the gen 5 era of games

NO remakes are not always better and it invalidates how good these games are saying that u should play a modernised version that often time isnt like the original so its something else entirely

resident evil comes to mind in no universe you can compare re2 and re2 remake and say that either one is better because they are fundamentally different games

it also invalidates the generation before 5 like pc gaming from before 95 is super underrated
