Gender affirming Surgeries shouldn’t be be 18+ exclusive. (Top surgery spesifically)

Now I wanna preface I don’t believe I’ve done crazy  in-depth research on anything, so please feel free to correct me or share you’re opinion.

I’ve seen multiple social media posts talking about gender affirming surgeries (top surgery to be specific) and how they should be 18+ due to 2 reasons, health risks and regret/being irreversible. I personally think this hypocritical. Most of these people agree hormones can be taken at a younger age like 13-14. I understand why hormones seem less scary but to be completely serious, they’re pretty much the same. Both are irreversible and both come with health risks. Infection, or possible fluid build up, Anaesthetic  problems are normal for ALL surgeries and these risks are low. Hrt causes permanent changes to vocal cords, hair growth patterns, (depends how far in) and certain growth. These cannot be reversed, but for both you can do your best to dull the affects like voice training, or reconstructive surgeries. They’ll never be the same again but if that’s the standards, we should get at the same standard as surgeries. To agree with this take is to deny those of desperate need of these treatments to make them feel whole. It really makes me feel as if it targets those who’ve done the surgery’s a young age and sees it as some impulsive action they can just do. When that’s the complete opposite, I promise people who get top surgery under 18 put A LOT of thinking and planning into it. I’d also like to add if you argue their brains are under developed you should agree gender affirming care like surgeries and hrt should be 25+.

To summarize I fully believe (until proven wrong) that people who agree with hrt being under 18 but surgeries being 18+ are hypocrites. With the work, discussion’s  and approval from medical professionals, teens should be able to get to get top surgery under 18 🤷

Again take this like opinion with a grain of salt, I’m a trans teen who hopes to get top surgery before 18 so I’m a little bias but I understand the concern.

Though I do feel like it should be available for people under 18, I still do think there should be an age limit. Like maybe 13 and under shouldn't get it. I do understand the concerns of some people though, because you don't stop growing until you're around 18-21. If you get top surgery too early, it stunt your growth or just mess up your body in general. But I'm all for kids having the right to their own bodies.
