Β or I could catch you up real quick. Cool? Cool. Anyway, when I was in middle school my friend introduced me to Sailor Moon, with the anime adaptation I watched at the time being Crystal. Now, in Crystal S3, we are introduced to Haruka and her wonderful explanation of his gender identity. Haruka explains that she is simultaneously a boy and a girl, however, they never explicitly mention specific labels. STILL Haruka existing the way he did in Crystal set me on a path of self-discovery. Even if the words for it were never said, there is one thing this moment did tell me; these feelings are normal. I am not exaggerating when I say I would not be the same person today if I never knew about Sailor Moon. Even my friends at the time, although being queer, NEVER mentioned being transgender or anything under the umbrella. So, thank you for your willingness to represent minorities in your work, Naoko Takeuchi.Β
In the next part, I'll be talking about my misunderstanding of my own gender.
Bye Bye!
