Friend Rewind that is... But I'm not very hopeful.
What is she talking about, you may wonder, and the answer is social media. I don't know when I lost hope for it, maybe some time in the last few years. It just doesn't give me anything anymore, if it ever did. The majority of it is just people looking for attention and ways to upset others. How can that be emotionally rewarding?
I've always enjoyed making friends, it's not hard for me to become an acquaintance with people, but I don't know what it is about online friends, no matter how hard I try I can't keep them. Whether it is because of me or because of them I don't really know, it's just a fact.
I suppose it doesn't help having a set negative view on things, and I'd like to think I keep an open mind about a lot, but when it comes to any kind of social site it's just really hard for me to see it becoming a place where I would find any meaningful friendships, especially lately.
I think that's enough of ranting from me.
If any of this seems familiar, or if anyone is of a different opinion I'd love to hear it... If anyone is reading this.

I relate a lot to this post! Mainstream social media (outside of Pinterest, rednote, and YouTube sometimes) either does absolutely nothing for me or has been actively harmful to my mental health in the past. I also have quite a history of struggling to keep online friends. I currently have only one Chinese online friend who I met on rednote back in April, so only time will tell if the friendship will last. Before her, the last online friend I had completely cut me out of his life without explanation around the the end of last year/beginning of this year. We dated for only 1 month but stayed friends since we realized that we were not right for each other. He even met someone new, and I was very happy for him. I became friends with him back in 2021, so it definitely hurt when I found out that I was unfriended.
