Gone girl (huge book spoilers)

This book is fucking insane. Like it starts with the husband and wife in bed and he’s talking about how he loves her brain and how smart she is and how intelligent she is. Then next chapter he’s going to the bar he owns with his sister and when he comes home she is missing like vanished, also by the way ITS THEIR 5TH ANNIVERSARY HE FUCKING FORGOT ALL MORNING TO GET HER ANYTHING(we find out wayyy later in the book that when he left he was with HIS MISTRESS ON THE BEACH ON HIS ANNIVERSARY) so every year on their anniversary the wife makes a treasure hunt with clue from their relationship (cute right) so he gets home wondering how he’s going to get around telling her he doesn’t have a gift for her yet walks into the living room and they’ve been burglared and *shocked pikachu face my wife is missing! 

So he flips his shit and calls the cops, cops come and he’s oddly empathetic about her supposed kidnapping which the cops find suspicious as hell. And he realizes he doesn’t really know anything of substance about his on wife, like if she has any friends her hobbies nothing (weird as fuck right like he definitely did it) so he gives a statement the cops leave he starts stewing and remembers the treasure hunt (great time for this ikr) so as the main plot is going on with him doing news interviews and helping in search and rescue, the treasure hunt is a smaller plot where he finds out that every clue leads to a place where he hooked up with his mistress except for one clue that led to her ex’s house so he again flips out and now knows that she knows about the affair (shocker)

Also in between he’s chapters with his pov we get chapters of her diary where she talks about abuse of all kinds (like every kind is crazy) where she “is scared this man might kill me  like actually kill me” at the end of one of the entries. So by this point we fucking hate this guy like pos#1 because all we have are her diary entries and he’s freaking out. (Small time jump) So he is at his bar with he’s sister and his mistress walks talking like “ why haven’t you been talking to me since your wife been missing. ( idk Megan maybe because you’re his mistress AND HIS WIFE IS MISSING she is a little dumb, but how they got into this affair is because he is a professor at her college/ university and started dating/ hooking up with her because she’s hot and was available( fucking idiotic) and now she is emotionally attached because she is young and it’s not clicking that he is not leaving he wife for her. So she leaves pissed as hell and he’s freaking out again because she popular on the internet and she could further fuck up he’s life so he gets a lawyer (first right thing he’s done the whole book) and the lawyer is like I win all of my cases you will not fuck up my streak tell me everything and I mean everything.

So he tells him about all of his side and about his suspicions about her ex having taken her. After he leaves he has a eureka moment and finds another clue where it’s these two dolls and he’s sister says they were characters from a show where the husband beats his wife and eventually kill her and their baby. So now he thinks she was pregnant and that now his wife and his baby could be dead and that she could be framing him. (note there is no baby) so he talks to his lawyer and the lawyer says to gives the dolls to the cops and the cops find her medical records from an obgyn and those records say she was pregnant. Now they have a vigil planned because it’s been like a week or two so her family is there and  the news so he gets there and their neighbor starts screaming at him saying that she was pregnant and what did do to her and the baby(note there still is no baby I’ll get to it) so the news goes rampant basically slandering him as a wife and baby killer, so he is losing he’s mind. 

And next chapter it says “Amy one week after she goes missing” LIKE WHAT now we’re getting her pov because she is alive and well and watching the news on HER OWN VIGIL. And she talking about how her neighbor did her part well and she can’t wait to see how the public responds. And she starts talking about “diary Amy” which is all the lies she strung up to frame her husband, so all those entries were fake all the abuse all of it and she is banking of the police finding her diary and sending him to jail so she’s staying at a cabin for shady people I guess and dyed her hair but her face has been plastered everywhere so she’ll have to leave soon after another week her cabin mates rob her of all of her cash (that she was stealing from her husband btw) so she’ll is now broke, homeless, and out of gas. So guess who she calls HER EX THAT SHE SAID WAS HER STALKER ( so at least point all the stories she told everyone about her crazy exfriends or exboyfriends were all fake and the husband finds this out by visiting then one by one) So we’re ex picks her up and immediately starts lovebombing her which is fucking gross because she just told you that she was heavily abused in ALL THE WAYS and you immediately start trying to get in bed with her disgusting.

So she’s like Jesus this guy it my last resort what as my life come to( jee idk maybe you shouldn’t have framed your husband because he had an affair and you’d be at home still) these people are insane. So she’s stays at his lake house for weeks and she is tired of him so she frames him too TW LIKE A HUGE ONE so she assaults herself with a wine bottle then agrees to sleep with him after drugging him so he’ll pass out they do adult things he passes out then she kills him. Making a whole scene where she is innocent again because her ex boyfriend kidnapped her repeatedly assaulted her and she had to kill him.

Then SHE GOES BACK HOME where everyone is shocked because actually she’s alive and she just says her diary was a misunderstanding (you literally said your husband tried to poison you with antifreeze how could that be misconstrued be for real) so the husband knows she tried to frame him and she’s shocked that he doesn’t want to be with her anymore but she’s blackmailing him into staying with the TW Vomit from when she actually poisoned herself. (Also how she got the medical records to show she was pregnant was she stole her pregnant neighbor’s pee while she was at her house and took that to the doctor.) 

So after months of them living together he finds the vomit in the back of the freezer but stays because he is so toxic for her and at the end of the book she’s pregnant like actually this time and she is still so toxic and confesses to everything and that she did frame him AND HE STAYS and he says he’s sorry for her because she has to live with herself and she doesn’t says anything back but says she just wanted the book to end with her “getting the last word” 

EVERY MAIN CHARACTER IN THIS BOOK IS INSANE AND IM NEVER READING IT AGAIN 

Ps it was really well written and perfect which is why I’m never reading it again because I know what happens
