Got my own TV in my room

Block sale weekend kind of sucked this year, but I managed to get a used Phillips TV and a Roku 2 unit.

The Roku 2 unit is outdated and slow as balls, but it can still handle the live TV apps, Tubi, and my webcaster app, which is all I really needed. Because it's got RCA ports, it hooks right to the old combination Sony/VHS combo I more or less adopted from my parents' bedroom, so I can switch between DVD, VHS, and Roku. It's really a nice experience. 

As for the Phillips TV, it is so much better than the shitty LG monitor I was using. The picture is clearer, and it has RCA ports, a coaxial, and multiple HDMI ports. The LG monitor had such a crappy miscolored, smudgy picture and the HDMI port somehow got completely destroyed, not sure how it happened...Dad...The only thing wrong with the Phillips TV is the lady I bought it from let it sit in her garage for what I presume was years, long enough that a mouse nibbled on the outer coating of the cable near the plug, and it's probably full of dust, too. As such, I don't trust leaving it plugged in when I'm not watching it. In fact, I don't trust any of the three units I'm using plugged in when I'm not using them. They're all very old electronics, and watching all those Fire Kills PSAs scarred me. 

And that's the new biggest flaw in my setup. I've got a funny light switch that cuts the power to whatever it's plugged into when it's switched off, but to reach it, I have to get out of bed and walk to it. I also have to get up to change the DVD or VHS. That really sucks when my idea was to be able to watch TV while being cozy before bedtime.

Sidenote, I am officially in the market for Simpsons Complete Series DVDs. Usually I just rent my DVDs from the library, but they always break the seasons up into multiple DVDs and that just sucks.
