so like my legal name is not anya and im entering senior year wanting to go by anya, im not trans or anything and my legal name starts with the same letter but im not trying to go by anything different with teachers and I also dont mind my legal name that much as long as its the short version, like lets say annie instead of annabel (my name is not annie or annabel but it sounds KIND OF like the latter, kinda)
so idk how im going to introduce myself to new people my age, i will be telling teachers and staff that im my legal name and i expect them to call me my legal name but idk if i should just be like "yeah im (legal name) but i go by anya" ??
and it doesnt make much sense for anya to be a hypothetical shortened version of my legal first name either, its kind of like stu being short for samuel or belle being short for brittany yk? and im also super shy and insecure so idk if ill even mention my preferred name LMAO anyway what should I say???? help please

my teachers call me sam mostly because my friends do it, but in your case chances are you can tell your teachers and friends in private (bc ur shyer) and then they'll roll with it lol good luck this school year man
