Happy Birthday Me

Well I'm finally here, age 21. We already celebrated my birthday on the 10th since my Dad has work on the weekdays. First we went to this event with a lot of booths selling different stuff. It was mostly a lot of antique things but I did get this cool monster themed duck, I love him so much. duckThe event was pretty funny. Me and my friend were just sitting on the steps that were connected to a building selling more things (forgot to mention, it was a very old schoolhouse that's usually on it's own selling antique stuff, but this time it was just more people selling too I guess) and this random older lady approached us telling us we should move off the steps "so that the older folks can grab the rail". Worth mentioning there was an entire other section of steps with a free rail... So whatever we just walked off and went get something to drink since Louisiana enjoys being hell with weather. After we got something to drink, we went back to the same steps and sat back down. Ten minutes go by and the lady is back, again, telling us to move off the steps. This time we straight up asked her, "Why not just go to the other side? There's barely anyone walking there anyways and the rail can still be grabbed if they need to." She claimed it can get crowded, but er... we were here for about two hours and never once did it get crowded. So we just sat there for a second and then got up to move as she asked because we didn't really feel like dealing with her. As we got up to move, I kid you not, she asks, "Are you mad? It wasn't a hard request." Lady, we're moving, be quiet ToT. We didn't respond and she finally walked off, we joked about it the entire rest of the time we were there.

My Dad and his friend were finally ready to leave and so we made our next stop, Acadiana Mall. Nothing much to really speak on about there, me and my friend did our usual walking around and stopping by Spencer's and Hot Topic. We also went to F.Y.E., but they almost never have anything there we're super interested in. Occasionally something might catch our eye, but that's it most of the time. I ended up getting a new studded belt and a new My Chemical Romance shirt, so that's cool.

After the mall we went eat at my favorite seafood restaurant, Fiery Crab. So a little context before I say anything, I do have sensory issues. Bright lights and noise can really overwhelm me, so to avoid that I wear headphones everywhere I go to block out anything excessive. For light, I don't own sunglasses so I usually try to just look away or block the light with my hand. Well today I wanted to test my limits, even though I knew damn well it probably wouldn't be any different, so I didn't bring my headphones with me. I feel a bit dumb because I know I should've brought them just in case but I did not. Oops. Anyways, we go to the restaurant and at first I was able to tolerate it a little bit, I was getting pretty nervous but I thought I could maybe get through it at least. But nooope! As time went on it became increasingly more difficult so I ended up getting completely overloaded with everything happening around me and everything was enough to frustrate me. Most times, I don't have meltdowns, how I respond to it is covering my ears and getting very quiet and if my Dad or my best friend are near me, they put pressure on my hand or hug me tightly since them and my sister are one of the only people I feel comfortable being touched by, don't like physical touch. So yeah, my fault but now I know for next time I suppose. My Dads friend actually knows a lot about this stuff so she reassured me about it all and I felt a bit better after we left. The food was worth it at least.

Finally after we were done with everything we wanted to do, we headed home. Extremely busy day but it was still a lot of fun for the most part.
