...anyone else getting the feeling that everyone's too tense these days? I've been chilling personally but I can't shake this weird feeling of tension between people both online and IRL. Everything seems so idyllic and yet it feels like it will all soon boil over. Very, very strange.
...although I suppose that I can chalk up this tension to the rising issue of separatism in Alberta. Yes, October is upon us, and with it, a referendum that will gauge public interest on another referendum which, if passed, might lead to Alberta separating from Canada. If you don't see how stupid the whole idea is, I recommend getting your head checked. Really, the whole idea of separatism boils down to "Ottawa is...le BULLYING us!". We don't even have the resources to support ourselves independently, but I guess logistics like that have never entered the head of your average separatist...
...in happier news, autumn is also upon us! Autumn's objectively the best season, and if you disagree, you are probably very weird. Just kidding, but I really, really like autumn. It's beautiful without being too cold. Too bad that it lasts for, like, two weeks, a month tops, where I live.
...now listening: "The Rude Gesture (A Pictorial History)" by Shellac. Their first release, a humble EP with three tracks on it. "The Guy Who Invented Fire" is short, "Rambler Song" is hard (it was later re-recorded in 1997, that version pales in comparison to this one) and "Billiard Player Song" is one of the best songs literally fucking ever. That guitar is crushing, and those lyrics...a rare moment where Albini strips back his traditional apathy and writes with charged emotion. Who knew Shellac were unsung pioneers of midwest emo?
