Heat sucks.

You know shit's hot up in the Great Lakes when the air quality finally begins to suffer for it. Our AQI has been steadily climbing into the yellow zone all week. This evening is the first time it goes into the orange zone. The breeze coming through isn't enough to move the air pollutants up and away from ground level.

The frustrating part is my dad LIKES it this way. He'd rather have the grass dry up and the air be unbreathable than have more groundwater than usual. And it's a sensitive topic for him for some reason, as he actually gets angry when I try to make a case for needing more rain...Is he defensive because he secretly realizes he's wrong about climate change being "mumbo jumbo", or does he just not like that I'm challenging his perspective? Personally, I think we're always better off without a summer like last year, where it was so dry that burn bans were in effect all the way through late summer into September. 

And maybe it in turn frustrates me knowing that this is the climate I inherit, while my dad got to spend HIS twenties in summers where 90 degree days were a rare exception, not the norm. How often does he bitch and moan about how hot/dry/wet/cold it is, but God forbid I bring up climate change...
