How do I make friends on here

I’ve been on here for like a month and I only have like 10 friends cuz Im scared to request anyone. Like how do I know I’m not gonna get jumped if I friend request someone?? How do I know if they even have the same humor as me?? Sighhhh I’m so sad and lonely fml
