How I got hacked, and what I learned from it.

this actually makes me so pissed. So basically one of my old friends that never spoke to me again on discord randomly sent me some messages. I was like "HOLY SHI NO WAY" and then i immediately responded out of joy. it was suspicious that he texted me so randomly, but whatever. i was too happy at the moment. we do a nice little greeting together, yknow all that. then he mentions he has an anime he wants to watch with me. he asks if im busy and wants to do it, i had the afternoon open so i accepted. Then, he requested me to download an app and join his party. I was suddenly highly suspicious when i clicked on the app. It claimed a bunch of crazy things like millions of shows, thousands of active people, and an almost perfect rating. I knew it was very suspicious. Like hella suspicious. So i kept looking back at his messages, and the website. I confronted how i dont trust him. Although he was way too believable. Not only that, but i also wanted him to screenshare for video proof of the app working. it looked very legit. I ended up downloading the launcher, but i also scanned it with my high power antivirus before opening it. It said it was a safe file. So like the fool I was, I double clicked it. Nothing happened. I went to him, said nothin happened. He said to run it with administrator. Now, I was more suspicious. But, my suspisions went down because I remembered i scanned it for viruses. So, I did it. IT WAS HORRIFYING. I saw a black screen, it flickered. Then it went back to normal. I knew EXACTLY what was happening. Then, my discord closed out. I was panicking and then opened my browser because I had my friend's account logged onto my browser for discord, I needed to see what happened. I was scared as F and i couldnt think properly. Then, the account spoke to itself.
"Do you want your accounts back"
"WHAT THE HELL"
I was preeeeeeetty scared. The hackers hacked both ME AND my friend. I dont remember much else from what happened, I was already scared and fearful. I ended up calling the person, they had an accent i could barely understand (typical hacker stuff lmao) and they kept asking me about how much money i would pay them. I said 60 because my mom said i could work for her for a little bit of money. I had been saving up for other things, but oh well. I could use my existing money plus the money i can work for. My mom was busy doing some stuff so i couldnt get the money ready yet. I had to mow the lawn for a few bucks. I did it, and i constantly checked the messages. I removed every dm from my friend, hoping nothing will be hacked on their end. When I got back, they put my email, discord, and roblox account in hostage behind a paywall. I told them when my mom was done eating, she would pay me and then I would run down to the store. They kept pressuring me and saying im stalling when I was deeply honest. it was so scary, you would have to be there to understand. I told my little brother i was hacked and a bunch of things were locked unless I pay them. The hacker got impatient and then said I had 30 minutes MAX to pay. My mom hadn't even left yet. (im still very shook and havent explained all the details, mb. the guy had to receive the money online with a visa card.) She said I had to shower because there are bugs on me from the grass. It was stressful, and I only had 25 minutes left. I got out of the shower. She goes to smoke outside, as usual. Boom, 19 minutes left. She said I didnt shower all the way because my hair was still dry (True, although i showered my body.) She said she would go to the store while i shower, so i hop back into that shower. She said if my hair wasnt wet when she was back, she would keep the money for herself. I shower once more.
Five minutes pass.
Ten minutes pass.
I was beyond terrified. The hacker called me and screenshared him scrolling through everything I had. Tiktok, gmail, roblox, all of it. He changed my roblox avatar while he was at it. I bolt out of my room and peeked outside. My mom's car was pulled in the driveway.
1 minute left.
My mom finally comes in through the door, holding the card. She tried to lecture me about how i shouldnt be greedy about my money. I NEEDED THAT MONEY TO SAVE MY STUFF. i just grabbed the card and said i had to go to the bathroom. I ran to my room, and then quickly yelled that i had it. He was silent for a moment, so i sent photos of the front and the back of the visa card. He responded and said to buy something on a website, like a credit card trading thing. I couldnt understand much of it because my mind was all over the place. Nothing worked, mainly because they were from Turkey and I was from the US. Lots of more panicking happened, and he was pressuring me even more, and involving deals that werent part of the paywall, like sacrificing my roblox account AND the money for my stuff back. He kept getting angrier after everything failed, and as a final last-ditch effort he resorts to steam. He says I can gift him 50 dollars worth of a steam gift card. My shaky hands fumble and I accidentally send the 50 dollars to MYSELF, NOT HIM. I was scared at first but I told him that it was sent to me, not him. he goes silent for around 10 minutes. This is where I completely thought I lost everything. Then, i tell him I can gift him steam games since it was added to my account. He agreed, and said a bunch of steam accounts and games I have to gift. There was some backrooms games that I gifted. I ended up paying all the accounts. It took a while but I donated all my money. After that, I got my gmail account back. I was so relieved, but still on edge because of the others. He said stuff about having to keep my roblox account (WHICH I COULDNT LET HAPPEN, ROBLOX IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS IN LIFE) so i bargained with him and traded my main account with my alt account. He said it had to have some value, so i sent that one away. Sure, the account was nice and it was history, but its okay.

Anyways, he said his team was asleep because they spent the whole night on me, it was 6am for them. I still hadn't gotten my discord account back, because aparently the other ones took over that account, not the one I was currently chatting to. The new guy seemed more chill (and more educated on english lol) but i was asking about the virus. He said he is only part of the team because of the group money they recieve (I suppose theyll have fun, i got them all a backrooms party game ;-;) and that the virus doesnt stay on the computer. He said its only an issue when I opened it, and it didnt download anything. He said if i delete the fake installation file, everything would be fine. I requested that they shouldn't mess around with anything after i get it back. His response was hopeful, funny, and kind of concerning. "we prolly wont even remember ts happened tbh" It was hopeful, it was coming from one of them after all. It was kinda funny how chill he acted. Although it just makes me wonder how many accounts they hack daily, which is kinda concerning. I wont know if i could trust him, but oh well. I ask about when im getting my discord account back, he responded it would be in a while after they wake up, theyll restore everything. I think I'll stay up all night until they write back saying its restored. I really hope i get it back. He promised it. And I cant live without my friends on discord. I am praying they didnt do anything stupid with me or my friends on discord. Anyways, at the time im writing this I dont know when (or if) they will give it back. 

Well, if i hadnt done anything i wouldve lost everything. Despite the 60 dollar paywall, I still believe this was the best choice. Just give them what they need, and dip. Hopefully there arent any kinds of loopholes or lies they shared me. If anything else happens, I will post it in the comments of this blog and/or make it my status.
