How to make friends and influence people

I read "How to make friends and influence people" and I thought it was an interesting book. I read it because I struggle with communication with family, friends, and strangers. Well it pretty much taught

Don't criticize, condemn, or complain.

  • People usually justify their behavior instead of accepting criticism.
  • Criticism often creates resentment rather than change.
  • If you want influence, understand before judging.
  • Listen, dont argue, Arguing never works

Give honest and sincere appreciation.

  • Everyone wants to feel important.
  • Notice genuine effort, character, or accomplishments.
  • Don't flatter be specific and sincere.
  • I thought this was important.Encouraging and appreciating someone goes a long way

Arouse in the other person an eager want.

  • Stop talking about what you want.
  • Think about what they want.
  • Show how your idea helps them achieve their goals.

Part 2 was six ways to make people like you

  • Become genuinely interested in other people.
  • Smile.
  • Remember that a person's name is, to them, the sweetest sound.
  • Be a good listener.
  • Talk in terms of the other person's interests.
  • Make the other person feel important—and do it sincerely.

This was such a good read, I believe it was just 8 hours of an audio book. Ive put some of this into practice and people seem to be really happy with what I did for them. It's best to practice this at home first because that's where appreciation is most needed. I learned that people love when you take the time to know things and remember them later on. I actually had an interview at this clinic and I wrote 3 pages worth of information about the providers, their values, insurances, google reviews with their top issue, and asked questions about the clinic. She absolutely loved the HW I did on them and she said I was "spot on." Honestly one of my best interviews ever. Hopefully I hear back from them soon because I need money to spend on dumb hobbies. Well thx for listening to my yap, hopefully the reader learned something along the way.
