≽^•⩊•^≼ I guess you could call me a scaredy cat. I’ve got pretty bad anxiety, so I’m not usually looking for a scare. But people have started decorating their yards for Halloween, and I do love seeing it all on my four o’clock morning walks.
This year, there are red lights glowing in the bushes and motion activated bats that squeak when I walk by. Their eyes light up, and I nearly jump out of my shoes. One guy has a severed foot dangling from a chain. I was looking down for skunks when I saw it and thought, That looks like a foot. Oh no. Then I remembered what month it was.
Another yard has a figure swinging from a tree that looks like a drowned person . I don’t linger at that house. I do like the giant skeletons, though. Those ten foot skeletons are so cool.
At one intersection, the air smells like cloves and oranges and Cinnamon simmering in a little pot. I don’t know where it’s coming from, but the smell follows me for nearly a block. There was a full moon this morning, too, and for a minute, with that warm fall smell in the air, the whole walk felt kind of lovely. Then I spotted a skunk, crossed the street to give it room, and walked straight past a cackling witch that made me jump three feet.
I tell you what, y’all, I like Halloween. I just have to catch my breath now and then. And of course there’s the candy. I’m trying not to eat any, but dude chocolate? Come on. Chocolate’s my hero, I think.⋆🐾°

Those giant skeletons are a lovely pair! I wish the mornings felt more like fall out this way, but the El Ninos are rampant along with the humidity. I like Halloween, but it's also a prelude to my favorite holiday - Dia de los Muertos. I don't scare easy, although, I have to admit that I come from a weird family that has a lot of paranormal experiences, so severed foots kinda have to take a backseat, you know.
