We're The Thinkers - Horrible Histories
Socrates is my hero at the moment, I've been using the Socratic method non-stop and I LOVE that it pisses people off. The downside? People find it hard to realize how ridiculous they sound- and the other downside is people might poison me if I keep replying with "why though".
Like, on TikTok, someone was ranting about how they don't like that Disney made Ariel & Snow White "black" and I just kept asking them why it mattered- there was no valid response, I fear. And they ended up saying "Do you want me to delete my comment, because we're just going back and forth", so I basically just said; "do what you want". I still have no idea why it matters. Then someone else replied to my comment saying that the Brother's Grimm wrote her that way as well and then they used that old "WHAT IF THEY MADE MULAN, MOANA & TIANA WHITE!???" when Tiana faces actual discrimination due to her skin colour, Mulan's & Moana's race does something to the plot because that says a lot about where the story takes place and the culture around it. Ariel's thing is being half-girl, half-fish, and last I checked- there aren't any mermaids in real life, sorry. So, I fear, I genuinely don't understand why people give a fuh about the skin colour, one of them even said that the "story is ruined" because of their skin colour-.... Bad story, I guess, if that's what ruins it.
Update: one of them said that they would gladly explain to me why Snow White's skin colour is important, and I said that I would love to know- they just said "Snow White 'Skin white as snow'." And that's it.... I find it absolutely hilarious that nobody can give me a real reason on why that matters to the plot. Giggling and kicking my feet even.
Just thought this was funny and had to share and I wondered if other people take inspiration from Socrates with all his questioning- plus if people know Horrible Histories.
