"I can't remember my name, you live through me..." (09/19/2026)

...I have a really funny idea for a meme. One that probably 15 people total will get, but still. Do you remember that one ASMR video of the dude wearing a Spider-Man mask rubbing a chain against a cheese grater? Imagine that but the audio's been replaced by "You See Through Me" by Michael Gira. This has haunted my mind for the past 3 years and I still don't know why I haven't bothered making it into a reality.

...in contrast to that "stunning vista" (read: desolate street) I described a few entries ago, it is quite beautiful out there today. The sun is out and shining and outside it looks frankly picturesque. Most importantly it's QUIET!!! Around this time a couple of months ago, someone would probably be screaming their head off, but it would seem like I don't have to put up with that anymore.

...and now I'm reading that Disney+ is planning to roll out ads on all of their subscriptions. I can't believe people still pay for streaming services. I haven't, and probably never will. What's the point of subscribing to a service that sometimes removes content and does bullshit like this on a regular basis? I guess there's a point to be made regarding how convenient it is, but still...

...listening now: "Drainland" by M. Gira. One of the most unsung Swans/Swans-related releases. I've seen nobody talk about this record (aside from "Blind" but I guess more people associate it with the White Light reissue), which is quite a shame since I think it has some of Gira's strongest material: "I See Them All Lined Up" and "Low Life Form" strike hard and leave a lasting impact, while "Your Naked Body" and "Why I Ate My Wife" are quietly the best songs on the album, one a warm (by Swans standards) folk piece, the other much more despondent and, I suppose, mournful.
