I don't miss people (in a good way)

I'm aware that there was something I was lacking, but it did more good than harm, so I pretty much thought of it as a perk. I have low emotional needs, and all I really need is myself.

Me and my dad haven't been in contact for three years, and the day we fell apart, it felt like a random Tuesday, and I moved on. I went from being his pride and favorite to some stranger he shares blood with, but it's okay. Life goes on, and I didn't wallow, and I'm happy for him and his family.

What really made me realize how strong this way of thinking was ingrained to my head is when I migrated from the Philippines to the UAE last year. During this time period, I really got to bond with myself more. I had developed deep friendships with 7 people back in my home country, I thought of them as my siblings, but I never really thought that leaving them would affect me in any way cause in my mind, I was thinking, "I know I'll see them again someday." and having that mindset was enough for me. I didn't get homesick either, and I didn't need to adjust.

Getting back to the 7 people I was friends with, some of them did something really shitty to me, and I couldn't believe they would betray me like that. I thought of them as my closest people so this really disappointed me, but, oh well. I cut contact with them, moved on, cause that's just how life is.

I value the memories I made with the people I lost, but I don't go out of my way to wish to have them back, we're all strangers for a reason.
