I STARTED PARAMEDIC SCHOOL!!!

Hello friends!

I just wanted to give an update about paramedic school because I'm very excited!

Okay, so the first day was obviously boring- just introductions and the syllabus and such. But from here on out the amount of studying is going to be insane. We're expected to teach ourselves 100% of the material BEFORE we go to class, and it's recommended that we spend 2-5 (but sometimes up to 9) hours on each chapter (and we have 1-3 chapters every class).

I have class for 4 hours twice a week, then starting next month I'll have class from 9am-4:30pm once a week, where we're doing hands-on stuff like learning to intubate and such. The month after that, I start my clinical rotations twice a week ON TOP OF class 3 days a week AND working. I get to work in the Emergency Room, in Pediatrics (kids), in a Psychiatric rotation, the Operating Room, the Cath Lab (where they fix heart attacks), and in Labor & Delivery! Once all of that is over, I start my field internship where I will work 48 hour shifts on the ambulance for 3 months (which is the part I'm most excited and scared for)!

I was so anxious leading up to this for MONTHS but now that it's started I suddenly feel completely prepared. The moment I left my first lecture all the discipline I need to get through this entered my body. I've been eating well, sleeping well, studying every waking hour, and still maintaining my chores and routine- even when I would rather just go to bed.

I am so excited for what's to come!
