I told my friends how I want to wear…

So basically I told two of my friends how I want to wear and they said oh i’am gonna stop you from wearing that or like l’am gonna change your mind or whatever, they said a word in my native language that I can’t translate, and this’s a big thing to me bc it’s the only way that I express myself with, also I didn’t expect them to act like that, specially bc one of them used to wear “emo”  it not really emo but she said i used to wear emo and I know it’s not emo but I call it emo , and like the least thing I expected them to say is oh okay or like it’s whatever you want to wear so okay. and I don’t know.
