I was born in the right generation

Most people on this site are all about being y2k, scenecore, mall emo or whatever.. and i have absolutely nothing against that! everyone should have the liberty to express themselves in anyway that they want whilst liking whatever they want. But one thing that seems like a problem to me in these sort of communities is the whole ''I wish i was born in the 2000s''/''I was born in the wrong generation'' philosophy; and that isn't because ''you know there was bad stuff in the 2000s too!!'', but because this just seems like a total denial of our current social existence as a new generation of humans on this planet. ok, fantasize about past times and enjoy their music and art and culture, but understand that whining about having wanted to become part of those communities in that certain time period is not gonna lead you to anything besides enclosing yourself in this bubble of daydreaming, fake nostalgia and imagining yourself in scenarios that have already happened. 

Now, while this might not be that deep, and possibly a really small and insignificant thing to ignore and pass by as just 'a phase', i do think that it subtly demonstrates the incapability of being someone in the era of the internet and social media, especially in us young people. we're stuck behind screens and all of a sudden we don't feel human anymore, we're in search of something that makes us feel more organic and true to our spirit even though we're doing it through something that is its complete opposite. We don't feel like an individual anymore and so we feel the need to categorize ourself in communities that make us feel more included in something. and this by the way is applicable to any subcategory of scenes, whether it is kpop, black metal or whatever word you put before '-core' (this of course also just increases the amount of people screaming poser at eachother because of a superiority complex).

What I'm trying to say in this blog isn't to stop liking art content from the past or from a certain movement or scene in history, but to only serve them as inspiration for ourselves today, in the current state of the world and society. Wake up, realize we're not living with flip phones anymore, we don't need to buy CDs or vinyl, and if you do, please, let it be for passion and love for the thing, not for just plain hating of our present or wanting to live in a different reality. We are the new generation, we can and are just as great and powerful as the ones before, we have to use the past as a way to prove how great humankind is and the present as an instrument to show how much it still is. We've got the power, we are the future, we can still make immense and beautiful things, even in a world that's crumbling in front of our eyes.

If I'm gonna die blown up by a bomb I'd like it to be while I'm in the sate of mind in which I believe in ourselves as a society and in which I'm faithful for us humans, especially us kids, teenagers and young adults, to be able to persevere through hard times and still be able to produce good and positive things for our cultural patrimony. 

I was born in the right generation, because there isn't a wrong one, there's just how we decide to act and what we decide to do in it. You are you, don't forget that.
