I love my religion, and I'm happy with where I am. but what is not like is how it has started "trending", most of the people that are making it trend are just disrespectful. For anyone who somehow hasn't seen it, the basic idea is that people are joking about deliberately annoying the Greek gods, usually by saying something ridiculous about them and then acting like, “LOL what are they gonna do???”

Um. are you dense? I mean maybe I should be nicer, but you know what you are doing.

Because if there is one thing the ancient Greek stories have taught us, it is that you should probably not walk around challenging divine beings just because you think it would make a funny TikTok.

Seriously.

And then suddenly somebody's life is completely ruined.

Like???

HELLO???

They're gods. There is a religious tradition behind them. There are people TODAY who worship them. That makes the trend a little more complicated than simply saying, “ahahhaahahaha Zeus is gonna get mad.”
