I'm terrified of becoming an adult

I know damn well I'm not mature enough to be one and I don't know how I'm supposed to prepare for adulthood. I turn 17 in exactly 3 months, and that's going to be the last year of being a teen. I wish I got some advice on how to prepare for adulthood, because once I finish sixth form, I'll be on my own and fully independent. The worst part is that some people expect you to automatically mature the second you hit 18, that's unrealistic!

As much as I am excited about having my own freedom and independence, I'm scared. I know that I would have to get a career (hopefully something to do with writing), get my own home and (potentially) find a partner. To any adult who's reading this, what advice do you have for anyone who's close to becoming 18?

yo so we're lowk the same age and i have older siblings. Let me tell you, as long as you work hard and make sensible decisions (such as not allowing yourself to be exploited or to exploit) you will have done your best and thats enough. but dont be too set on one vision, trust me life can change in ways u can never imagine. At 18 NO ONE expects you to mature, if anything they expect you to go ape shit on your privilages as an adult before uni. some people dont stop doing wild things till their early twenties. All you need is an alright resume, an idea of what you want to do and where you want to go and thats it! dont overthink, dont underdo. Just dont commit crimes and be punctual i guess
