insanely hot take about the 2nd amendment

i dont care what ANYONE tells me

but the 2nd amendment is not only based 

but actively being infringed all over the country

it doesn't say "you can only bear certain approved arms based on your state and also you need licenses and also background checks and also you can't ever do bad against the government because then we'll never let you own one!"

it says ARMS

ANYTHING THAT SHOOTS IS YOUR RIGHT TO OWN

i feel like people assume a "right" is something that a government provides when that's not even close to what it means

if a right actually gets EASIER to act upon if a government collapses, then it's actively being infringed. you can't form a government and outline protected rights in its constitution and then just IGNORE THAT?

think of it this way

if the "right" can only be maintained under a government or requires someone else's labor to maintain, then it's a privilege

if the right can be expanded upon without a government, then it's being infringed.

you can expand this logic to every single amendment in the constitution. the founding fathers outlined powers each person holds inherently and the ONLY thing the government should be allowed to do is protect them. full stop. this is why you can't remove amendments.
