For me, inside jokes, especially between friends, are really special and precious since its a thing that only you two would find funny and nobody else since they dont know the context of it, however due to its exclusive nature, i feel like it can be used to purposefully exclude or ostracise, which blows, but apart from that, they're great.

That’s kinda true, I hate when two people make the inside joke in front of others, cause its either very mean or they just look schizophrenic, laughing over some random stuff.
