One of my best friends passed away a few years ago and even though I think about him all the time, it always feels bittersweet around this time of the year. Going to the Dia de los Muertos celebration L.A. and Riverside was one of the things we always enjoyed doing together. I attended a few after he passed, but it's become harder as each year passes. Not because I don't enjoy the holiday and it's significance... it's more that events like this just don't feel the same anymore. It's become so trendy that I wonder sometimes if people even remember what it's really about.
I do my remembering in my own special way. I write letters that I never send and whenever I do something, make something, or go somewhere cool that I know he would have liked, I always think about what he would say and remind myself that he is always right there with me, even when I can't see or hear him.
