Jennifer’s Body (again)

Watching the “Jennifer’s Body Reunion” video from ET Live (almost finished the whole thing) and have been writing notes like crazy all day.

Since the beginning was all about the discrimination towards the movie, I thought that was basically what the entire video was about. So I was excited for that. What I did NOT expect was for the video to start turning into a talk about discrimination around women (especially in the industry) in general, and how deep both Cody and Megan go into it.

To clarify, this isn’t a bad thing, it was a nice surprise. Of course, it came out around 2020-2021, when people started being much more receptive to this stuff. I was just planning on taking notes about the movie and maybe using it in future blogs for reference— instead I have a whole lot of notes talking about how the media overly criticizes women in the movie industry, and how movie studios take advantage of women, and don’t help shield them from the media like, at all.

There’s also really hard-hitting talk about their experiences with and around the movie. Cody talks about how Needy and Jennifer were both based off of herself, in different ways. Megan talks about how she also saw herself in Jennifer at some points, and how Cody and Megan were in a very similar mindset at the time of making the film.
