Kiki Kannibal and the Legacy of Scene Queens

This one might be normal length tbh. Its like 11 PM when im writing this but I've really just been on this rabbit hole of what early scene was. 

Like, granted, knowing that scene queen is a reclaimed slur is just the best thing ever, but Kiki Kannibal? Dont get me wrong, I somewhat want her fame in the niche internet celebrity way, but not the Danny Cespedes sort of issues

Most of those inspo pics people get on Pinterest are from her and other girls like Zui Suicide ( who genuinely hated Kiki even though she was a grown ass woman ) or Amor Hilton.

I also hate the fact that early scene had such a bad grooming issue. Like, the most prominent scene queens were teenagers cuz the style was started by teenagers, but the fact that top scene queens usually had older boyfriends is quite disgusting. Whats also gross is how nobody ever called it out, it was just sort of normalized? And even then, even if you WERENT MySpace famous, a lot of scene kids were sadly groomed by adults.

Another issue the scene had was blatant bigotry. Racism and all. You couldnt be on alternative MySpace and be POC without someone calling you a slur. Its genuinely wild what people got away with back then.
