La historia sigue a Beckett Gentry, un soldado de élite de las Fuerzas Especiales, el y Ryan son mejores amigos en el ejército. Durante años, Beckett ha intercambiado cartas anónimas con Ella (la hermana de Ryan), usando un seudónimo (Caos). A través de estas cartas, él se enamora profundamente de su alma, aunque nunca se han visto. Antes de morir en una misión, Ryan le pide a Beckett que cuide de Ella, pero le prohíbe decirle que él era el hombre de las cartas.
Beckett viaja a Colorado tras la muerte de Ryan. Encuentra a una Ella exhausta ; es madre soltera de gemelos, Colt y Maisie, y se enteran que esta última tiene leucemia "LA NIÑA TIENE CANCER?'. Beckett no le confiesa quién es, simplemente se presenta como el mejor amigo de su hermano que viene a ayudar.
Poco a poco, Beckett se convierte en una figura paterna para los niños y en el apoyo emocional de Ella. El romance florece, pero Beckett vive con la culpa de dos secretos.

1-. Él es el de las cartas.
2-. Se siente responsable de la muerte de Ryan.

Mientras Becket tiene esos conflictos la salud de Masie va empeorando y el cancer expandiendose, lo peor es que en medio del desastre, Ella descubre que Becket es "Caos" (el hombre de las cartas). Se siente traicionada porque siente que él le robó la oportunidad de ser honesta con sus sentimientos desde el principio y porque siente que él "reemplazó" a Ryan bajo una mentira, supongo que entiendo como se siente ya que debe ser horrible PERO AMIGA COMO LO VAS A ECHAR DE TU VIDA TAN BRUSCAMENTE CON EL AMOR QUE LAS CRIATURAS SENTIAN POR EL "hay que darle un bonk insano".

Becket hace literalmente todo lo humanamente posible para ayudar a Maisie con sus tratamientos y le dice a Ella que deje que el la adopte para poder utilizar su seguro del trabajo con ella ya que costea los tratamientos exactos que ella necesita, PERO NOOOOO ELLA DICE QUE NO QUIERE PORQUE AHORA LO DETESTA POR "MENTIROSO" "no entiendo a Ella, QUE MAS QUIERE QUE HAGA BECKETT" despues de todo ese trajin el logra adopat a la nina y le dan toda la atencion medica que necesita, mientras eso pasa Ella se sigue peleando para decidir si "perdonarlo" o no, terminan teniendo una metida ahi de mano y como que se le medio pasa. 

Maisie pasa meses en tratamientos y cirugias y es libre del cancer, en una excursion del colegio al que ella y su hermano Colt asisten pasa una desgracia, un terreno no estaba del todo solido y una ni~a se iba a caer al barranco, Colt logra empujarla pero cae el, y tristemente termiina falleciendo "mi pobrecito Colt, leer esos ultimos tres capitulos estaba muy dificil cuando el 90% del tiempo estaba viendo borroso" me too twin, me too...

Honestamente no pense que me fuera a gustar mucho porque no soy muy fan del romance pero este con las criaturas si toco una parte de mi alma (｡ᵕ ◞ _◟) 8/10 nada mas porque Ella a veces me desesperaba demasiado al grado que tenia que dejar de leer para procesar las tonterias que salian de su mente ( ` ᴖ ´ )

The story follows Beckett Gentry, an elite Special Forces soldier; he and Ryan are best friends in the army. For years, Beckett has been exchanging anonymous letters with Ella (Ryan’s sister) using a pseudonym ("Chaos"). Through these letters, he falls deeply in love with her soul, even though they’ve never met. Before dying on a mission, Ryan asks Beckett to look after Ella but forbids him from telling her he was the man behind the letters.

Beckett travels to Colorado after Ryan’s death. He finds Ella exhausted; she’s a single mom to twins, Colt and Maisie, and they find out the latter has leukemia "THE KID HAS CANCER?!". Beckett doesn't confess who he is, he simply introduces himself as her brother’s best friend who’s there to help.
Little by little, Beckett becomes a father figure to the kids and Ella’s emotional rock. Romance blooms, but Beckett lives with the guilt of two secrets:

1-.He is the one from the letters.

2-.He feels responsible for Ryan’s death.

While Beckett deals with these conflicts, Maisie’s health worsens and the cancer spreads. To make matters worse, in the middle of the disaster, Ella discovers that Beckett is "Chaos." She feels betrayed, feeling like he robbed her of the chance to be honest about her feelings from the start and that he "replaced" Ryan under a lie. I guess I get how she feels since it must be horrible, BUT GIRL, HOW ARE YOU GOING TO KICK HIM OUT OF YOUR LIFE SO BRUPTLY AFTER THE LOVE THE KIDS FELT FOR HIM? "She needs an insane bonk".

Beckett literally does everything humanly possible to help Maisie with her treatments. He tells Ella to let him adopt her so she can use his work insurance, since it covers the exact treatments she needs. BUT NOOOO, Ella says she doesn't want to because now she hates him for being a "liar."I don’t get Ella, WHAT MORE DOES SHE WANT BECKETT TO DO?" After all that drama, he manages to adopt the girl, and she gets all the medical attention she needs. Meanwhile, Ella keeps struggling to decide whether to "forgive" him or not; they end up having a little "hookup" moment, and she kind of gets over it.

Maisie spends months in treatments and surgeries and becomes cancer-free. But during a field trip with her and her brother Colt, tragedy strikes. The ground wasn't solid, and a girl was about to fall down a ravine. Colt manages to push her out of the way, but he falls instead and sadly passes away. "My poor Colt... reading those last three chapters was so hard when I was seeing double from crying 90% of the time". Me too, twin, me too...

Honestly, I didn't think I’d like it that much because I’m not a huge fan of romance, but this one with the kids really touched a part of my soul (｡ᵕ ◞ _◟). 8/10, only because Ella frustrated me so much at times that I had to stop reading just to process the nonsense coming out of her mind.
