labels

so for context, im in a discord server with people from my school. and my friend js came out as pan and genderfluid, but actively had to hide it from people in that server because apparently he'd get attacked for not doing "enough research" into the terms and labels he wants to use despite him being comfortable and aligning with those perfectly.

i honestly find it quite ridiculous that people think they can attack him for feeling a certain way about himself. people tell him he's bi, not pan. but frankly, people dont UNDERSTAND the actual term of pan and bi. bi being comfortable with every gender (yes, even nonbinary. common misconception. though there can be preferences!)

pan doesnt care at all about the concept of gender. that doesnt define their attraction. (though that means that u cant have a preference on gender.) 

the ways they overlap are interesting, but they are almost exactly the same. just with preferences for certain things or no preference at all. pan people can inherently just be bi without a preference if they liked that label more.

also cause he doesnt "align" with genderfluid?? pls, gender is a fucking myth at this rate. just because he doesnt actively present feminine more often doesnt mean he isnt? these ppl dont know him enough lol

but the fact that he's getting attacked over a label or two that he seems to align with is ridiculous, considering he hasn't really switched up these labels. just redefined them to others or narrowed them down. pan hasnt rlly changed for the longest time, at first he was just pan. then pan and a demi boy. then genderfluid and pan.

still he gets fucking bashed.

then again, i attend a christian school and like 50% of the people there are christian homophobes with no respect for other people's beliefs despite the school being open to every religion despite practicing christianity in its classes (you are allowed to sit out if you dont align.)
