Let’s give hot takes

• Military propaganda is deeper than we think and also grooms different generations to join. (I fell for this as well) but many can’t help it. A lot of ppl I’ve met or seen who has joined says that it was their way of being able to build a future for themselves. Since they came from low income families, escape from abuse or not being in the streets. Sure some were able to join willingly but those ppl were able to have a back up source while many others use this as a stepping stone to help themselves and their families. It’s been preached to us in our youth that being in military would benefit you, make you seem badass, help you get to higher education. Sure it definitely does but it’s demanding, physically, mentally and emotionally. However games, movies and shows keeps our mind open for joining the service. In case of our lowest. That’s how they really get recruits. 

• Non-chalant will kill off creativity, individuality and what makes communities. Many ppl want to seem cool and stand out. Thats perfectly fine, but the way ppl are approaching it, is by not caring and shaming those who do. It discourages a lot of ppl to branch out and try new things, or even put in effort. They would label it as “never that serious”, “try hard”, and even “cringey”. But that’s how many different spaces are made. Ppls dreams who were seen less than, making into books, movies, shows or even just enough for others to like. This goes to students at school too. This discourages a lot of young kids care abt their grades and future because they don’t want to be labeled as “lame”. So they will do their best to fit in with the crowd, and continue the cycle of shaming others who aren’t the same. 

It can kill communities. For example Clubs. Clubs used to be for those who loves to drink, dance and sing. Even mingle and create fun memories, but since everyone want to be non chalant. It’s a lot of standing around, and murmuring about how “embarrassing” others are, when all they’re doing is having fun. Anime conventions as well, it’s a space for ppl to be free and create new bonds with other ppl with similar interests. But I’ve been seeing, ppl taking over those spaces and shaming those who put actual effort in their cosplays. Venders who put time in their crafts and ppl who just wants to make friends. 

• Hobbies are luxuries and shouldn’t be taken advantage of. When you think abt it, having hobbies is a privilege that many ppl don’t have. Because it takes a lot of time, money and energy that many ppl probably don’t have. Either they have the money to start but not the time and energy to learn. Energy and time but not the supplies. Have the money and time but is drained to even pick it up. 

If you have a hobby and find yourself with all three, do it! Because it helps bring you that peace to your day, feel proud of being productive and creating something. And help you build up that confidence that you might’ve need. 

• The whole “you’re a poser” mentality is toxic. Okay hear me out! Ik this might not sound right to others, but you have to think about it. This really makes it hard for ppl to feel welcomed into communities they’re curious of. Ik there are posers out there, who would shit on you for things you like and turn around and take your interest to seem interesting to others (I understand, had this done to me). But that also pushes ppl away from exploring, because they don’t want to seem like a poser or hated because they only know mainstream media. When they’re still trying to know more. I’ve met ppl who seem like they wouldn’t be interested or know what I’m talking abt based on the way they dressed or other things they like. But when you sit down and talk to them. Holy fuck! They know the whole overwatch lore, fnaf lore. Their favorite sally face character and why. 

It’s also stopping you from meeting other ppl who are interested in other spaces, that maybe you can learn from too. Instead of calling someone a “poser” for knowing mainstream media, or know basic stuff. Maybe give them recommendations and talk to them abt the deeper parts of the lore that they might’ve not known.
