mientras me decías “te amo”?

Ingles:

Love in the Murder Scene

“Love in the murder scene”—
my favorite phrase, the one I said before you killed me in cold blood, before you aimed at me with the very same gun I gave you so you could protect yourself.

Would it be strange to say that even with the barrel pressed against my head, with blood rushing through every vein in my body, I still thought you looked beautiful?

I ask so many questions I could well have been a philosopher of the modern age—one who died young, a victim of the woman who inspired his poetry.

I still remember the metallic taste on my lips as I bit them, a victim of fear and uncertainty.

Every night, I cry outside your bedroom, now as a ghost, because God would not let me into Heaven until I finished what I had left undone on this earth. And Satan wouldn’t let me into Hell, no matter how much I begged him, because:

“An unholy soul such as yours would be worthy of possessing my royalty.”

Was it easy to pull the trigger
while I slept in your lap?

Was it easy to stab me
while you told me, “I love you”?

Did you notice the blood?

Did you notice me crying
as I closed my eyes?

Did you notice that I looked at you with eyes full of love
before you left me there to die?

Did you notice that I used my final breath
to tell you that I love you?

Did you notice that I could not finish my revenge—

because I still love you?
