I was washing my face the other day when I realized my life has been full of love tropes I've been avoiding without even being aware of the situation, so here's a list of some of them:
- Childhood friends to lovers: my mom has this friend that lives like 5 hours away so she and her family don't come to my town as often as they did almost two decades ago. However, her kids, me and I brother used to be very close when we were little. The four of us grew up spending our summers together. I think we've all been naked around each other at some point when we were kids. When we got older, we joked around a lot and still spent a lot of time having fun. You know, exactly like in movies and books. Well, nothing has ever happened and I don't think it will so sorry to everyone who loves this trope JASJAJSJ In the present, we still talk, although not as often.
- Kind of arranged marriage? But not really arranged: so, again, my parents are friends with this other couple that also has children the same age as me and my brother. They owned a cottage with a pool so we also went there a lot in summer. Every time we went, I remember hearing my mom and their mom talk about how I should get married with one of their kids so if we had kids they would be the prettiests of the town. First of all, wtf mom. Second of all, ew, not happening like ever. My brother still talks with them from time to time, I haven't talked to them for like 7 years even though we've run into each other a couple of times.Â
- Academic rivals to lovers 1: I was very jealous and couldn't stand them. Didn't interact so nothing happened. They moved out and changed schools. End of the story JASJJAS
- Forced proximity and kind of rivals to lovers: they made us sit together even though we didn't get along at all. After some weeks, we started to talk a little bit more and two months after they were trying to get me to do things by trying to win bets about who would do better at the next math test and I used these bets to get them to improve their school marks (I kept winning every bet and they kept getting more frustrated every time so they started to study more). According to my friends, they liked me and that's why they worked so hard. To be honest, I didn't really care, I was more invested in getting them to pass all tests JAJSJAS
- Friends to lovers: yeah, so, there was tension but I didn't realize until some years later JASJAS
- Academic rivals to lovers 2: according to my friend it could be a very interesting situation if it turned out to be true that they had a one-sided rivalry without me being aware. According to me, they didn't even know I existed.
- Academic rivals to lovers 3: they were openly competing with me. Again, I didn't care and didn't bother. Then my friend made a comment about them talking with me more than with other people and being interested and got my whole friend group invested in an inexistent romance story. Due to other external reasons, we never talked again after that JASJJAS
