Metalhead: The Blur of Parts And Gears Chapter 1

Chapter one

Pit-pat, click. Pit-pat, click.

That’s all David had heard in the morning since his mother kicked him out of the house. An abandoned dumpster wasn’t exactly the best place to avoid gross, noisy rodents being your neighbors, but it was a place that David could sleep while being paid less than minimum wage. He had made it a rather cozy environment. Well, cozy for not living in a house. He fixed the gap in the lids with duct tape, cleaned the gunk and spare garbage, taped two flashlights on two walls opposite of each other that functioned as lights, decorated the floor with blankets and pillows for comfort, and made a small area where he would keep his iPod so he didn’t break it. David wasn’t happy with his situation, but his naturally optimistic attitude kept him content enough.

Now, not a lot of jobs were thrilled at the idea of hiring a homeless nineteen year old, so he got paid under the table by the owner of a small cinema just outside of the shopping district. David was paid to handle all the gross stuff that all of the staff that weren’t in a bad situation didn’t want to get near. He was paid just enough to eat and drink and get the occasional extra blanket or pillow for his dumpster.

David grumbled unintelligibly at the sound of the rats. He felt around for his flashlights and slowly woke himself up. He got changed  into a basic black hoodie, white sweatpants, and red sneakers and climbed out of his dumpster to make his way to work.

David’s favorite thing about work was the washing machine and running water. Everyday, he took his clothes with him to work so he could wash them and he would use the men’s bathroom to take what was essentially a whore bath. And that day was only slightly different. His whore bath was interrupted by his co-worker, Sandra.

“D, I need you to take out the trash when you’re done—uhm… soaking your pits.” She looked him up and down before furrowing her brow in disgust and confusion.

“Yeah, cool, I’ll get to it!” David replied hastily, his nervousness evident in his voice.

David was always nervous around Sandra. How could he not be? Sandra was the picture of beauty in David’s eyes. She had everything that David didn’t. She was curvy, kind of plump, ghostly pale, had auburn, light brown hair, haunting green eyes that seemed to look right through him, medium length wavy hair, rosy cheeks, reddish pink lips, a wardrobe filled with bright pinks and blacks, and money. Lots and lots of money.

David was tall, incredibly skinny, with medium dark cashew skin that was littered with acne and moles, deep black eyes, long, straight black hair, a more casual wardrobe of black, red, and grey and obviously not an abundance of cash. Even if Sandra wasn’t beautiful to everyone, she was perfect for him. Their differences were what appealed to him.

David hurriedly finished cleaning his armpits so he could take out the trash for her. The rest of his shift continued as normal. 6 o’clock hit and he was about to pick up his clothes to take back to his dumpster before Sandra stopped him in the lobby.

“Wait, David, do you need to stay with me for a while?” She sighed, “I’ve noticed how you always wash your clothes at work and the fact that you were washing yourself with a sink and hand soap just confirms that you probably don’t live in a house.”

“Sandra, thank you, but it’s…” he paused, “it’s not what you think it is, you know?”

“You’re willingly washing yourself in a sink?”

     “Well, no, but—“

“Then shut the fuck up. You’re staying with me and that’s final, dickweed.”

“So—so I get to go home with you?” David’s eyes were lit up like fireworks on New Year’s. He was beaming like he was a cancer patient and you had just offered him the miracle cure free of charge.

“Not tonight. You’re going to my house alone. I have to close and change the letters on the sign tonight.”

Sandra grabbed his hand and forced her house key through his fingers. The address was engraved into it in curly letters.

“Get out of here. The rooms are all labeled so the guest room isn’t hard to find. Help yourself to some left over lasagna, I hate that shit.”

He couldn’t resist temptation. He hugged her before dashing. He practically skipped back to his dumpster to clean it out, his blankets and pillows were all about to get washed and put on a new bed in a real room. A real room with actual lights instead of flashlights, a roof instead of lids shittily taped together, a real wall to put his photos on. This was his heaven. He skipped down the street with his belongings in his arms. He was so happy, he thought he could just die, or at least, he thought that until the thing of car Jeff the hit him. Death wasn’t as pleasant as happiness after that.

The driver put the car in reverse before driving over him once again. David couldn’t tell if the blood on his shirt was from the two ton car that had driven over him at full speed twice or from the blood that he was violently coughing up. The car sped away and David began to bleed out. His legs were crushed, the bones reduced to tiny shards, his spine barely intact, and the worst of it was his head.

The left half of his face was disfigured to the point of no return. His eye had popped out of the socket, his skull cracked, and the liquid from around his brain was spilling out and soaking what hair he had left. It was a sickening sight and he was barely holding on.

Lying on the road was the last thing he could remember before the light of day dimmed around him and his eyes fluttered closed. Luckily, or rather unluckily, for him, he survived because a woman had seen what happened and called an ambulance.

Heyyy! Please don’t point out my errors, it’s meant to be shitty. It’s supposed to give off the vibe of an edgy 14 year old making a creepypasta story and deviantart for the first time.
