hello guys!! i’m practicing my writing for this up coming school year since i’ll be taking senior level classes and i’m scared lmao, but here’s my rant i used as practice to write!! i also posted this on my tumbr blog.
i feel as if people often overlook that femininity doesn’t automatically make someone immune to misogyny. women can be just as oppressive. and as a society, i think we dont acknowledge this enough. prejudice isn't gendered; it exists equally in men AND women. the same goes for misandry. hatred of men can fester anywhere. another thing that bothers me is the common misconception that feminism is about elevating women above men, making one gender above the other. when in reality, feminism fights for equality!! not dominance over one gender by another. if you claim to be a feminist, but spend your time disparaging INNOCENT, men without cause or reason? then you’re completely missing the point of what feminism stands for. i love being a girls girl. and i do recognize some issues stem disproportionately from men more than women. but if someone calls themself a feminist while actively spreading hatred toward half of humanity? you’re not practicing equality at all. you’re just mistaking being a feminist for being a misandrist. feminism is all about equality and i think we unfortunately often forget that.

As a technical misandrist by definition (i guess?) I do completely 100% agree! Being a feminist is about equality and the people that think differently are so uneducated but what bothers me is so many women out there are taught that's what it means! Idk if you know who Kate baker is but omfg she literally just had a huge thing on how she said feminists were men haters and the sad thing is she wasn't educated on these things! People should be educated on something as big as this but its pushed aside as if its not been a problem in our society for hundreds of years
