I'm sorry if this is a sensitive topic, but I really need to talk about this.
I have anorexia nervosa, and I struggle a lot with food and my weight. Most of my friends know about it, and they know not to bring up food or weight around me.
There's this one friend that I'll call Amy.
I've known Amy for years. I only developed my eating disorder fairly recently, so it wasn't something she expected. Amy is overweight and talks about her weight pretty often. She complains about it a lot, but doesn't do anything about it. I don't usually complain, but I do something about my weight.
The problem is that Amy doesn't really understand how I feel about it. She kept talking about food and trying to make me eat. It started feeling like she was treating me like a child. I already have autism and have been treated like a child because of it for most of my life, so it's something that really bothers me.
I asked her several times to just stop. I even told her that the more she talked about food, the worse things would get for me. She said she "couldn't just ignore it." I told her that she could.
After a long talk, she agreed not to bring it up anymore, as long as I didn't bring it up either. That's fair. I didn't mention it.
Then, later that same day, she sent me a video about food.
At first I thought it might just be a recipe or something. Maybe even a mukbang. But no. It was a video about how I "deserve to eat."
I told her it wasn't helping. I told her I didn't want to be told things like that.
I wasn't even thinking about food at the time. I don't understand why she felt the need to send it after we'd literally just talked about this.
Is she even listening to me?

Maybe that behavior is triggered by jealousy, I’m guessing you heard about competitive ed, it doesn’t really have to be a “who weights less situation” it can be like what she’s doing to you making you eat more. If she doesn’t stop you should talk to your friends about the situation or straight up block her. Sorry if I didn’t explain myself well, my English is not good.Â
