Niche games/Indie games

Usually I try to find fun indie games to play, it opens me to some new game categories and I get to find out about new games but recently it feels like there are no more indie games :C

I totally get it, its super hard to compete with popular pc/console/mobile games but I just wish more devs would follow their dream and make a game, it doesn't even have to be a full game and I would 1 million percent play it

also, completely unrelated btw, I feel like there are more indie shows than indie games and (not to be mean) the indie shows aren't really..... that good.....I just feel like most indie shows are stuck on the "2020 arson and war crimes" humor 😬

but anywhooo, if there's any indie games you guys know of, let me know because I'll be all over it

I totally understand what you mean!! Indie games can sometimes feel harder to find because there are so many games being released that the really creative and unique ones get buried under the bigger titles. But I promise they’re still out there! There are so many small developers making really interesting things, it just takes a bit of digging sometimes.

Some indie games I’d recommend:

  • A Short Hike: a super cozy little adventure game about exploring an island, talking to people, and enjoying the journey. It’s simple but has so much charm.
  • Night in the Woods: one of my favorites. It’s about a young cat named Mae returning to her hometown and dealing with friendships, growing up, and mental health. The characters feel incredibly real.
  • Signalis: if you like horror, this one is amazing. It has a very classic survival horror feeling inspired by games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, with a really interesting story and atmosphere.
  • Slay the Princess: a really unique visual novel/horror game where your choices completely change the story. It’s weird in the best way.
  • OneShot: a beautiful puzzle adventure game that plays with the relationship between the player and the game itself. I don’t want to spoil too much, but it’s a very special experience.
  • The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood: a really creative game about tarot, witches, choices, and storytelling. The art style is gorgeous.

Also, I agree with you about indie media sometimes feeling stuck in a certain type of humor. I think the problem is that once a certain style becomes popular online, everyone starts copying the same jokes instead of experimenting. The best indie stuff, in my opinion, is when creators are just making something because they have a specific idea they want to share.

One of my favorite things about indie games is that they can be small. They don't need a massive open world or hundreds of hours of content. Sometimes a two-hour game with a unique idea can stay with you longer than a huge AAA game.

I hope you find some hidden gems!! If you discover any good ones, please share them too because I’m always looking for new indie games <33

YOU MIGHT really like rainworld, its a game where you are a part of a fully simulated ecosystem, almost at the bottom of the food chain, you explore and immerse yourself in a very well made world, with very interesting lore, the game can be hard for new players, there is a story and an end but if you use no guides you can wonder around the massive map for a while, its a really unique and fluid game that more people should try out

Tysm!! I'll definitely check it out, it looks so fun :3
