Niches

people who are obsessed with being "niche" have got to be the equivalent of the one kid in school who thinks theyre so different for having "special" interests. Which is quite egotistical because the only thing special about the interest is that it isn't mainstream. Just because your underground artist doesn't get many streams or recognition doesn't make you more interesting. It just makes you someone who likes a certain artist. 

I have no problem with this, except for when people try to martyrfy themselves. Like they're paving the way for the subject. Like no you aren't special, you just like what you like. I get being proud of your interests, as you rightfully should be, but to make it your whole personality feels like you're trapping yourself in a reality that isn't real. 

Like parasocial individuals. They live in a completely separate reality than us. They're stuck in their own delusions and makes it everyone else's problem. Like saesangs, or "Stans." like OLDSKOOL Stans, not like fans who are just really engrossed in the celebrity's content or lifestyle. 

I guess my point is that to be okay with yourself, you need to understand your reality.

Nobody is inherently special, but we are all unique. Be proud of your interests, but also realize who you are. maybe think about why you like that thing, or person. and apply some lessons that you've learned to your life instead of trying to become somebody else.
