ok i stumbled upon this post on napo and it really got me thinking (here it is if you want to view it https://napochan.moe/blog/entry.php?id=7858) i have always wondered about this phenomenon of people (mostly teenagers) thinking being bigoted and chronically online is something cool or to be proud. and franky it just makes people look patheic and desperate i dont know WHERE yall got the idea that being a braindead bigot or just problematic is 'iconic' its really not ive seen so many people say ' i could never be a celebrity i would be canceled!' or 'me watching celebrites get cancled for things i say everday' well yes im glad you figured out why everyone doesnt come closer than 10 ft of within you . how hard is it for some of yall to be normal human beings? did your parents not teach you basic decency?? if your biggest worry is about some minorty groups that you have never even interacted with any in way possible (even if you did it still would not be ok??) then you need serious help. . if you GENUINELY think your gross ass behaviour is 'inconic' or 'not that deep' then do everyone a favor and just log out for us i might get some hate for this but whatever!

a lot of this behavior is genuinely covid-born lack of proper in-person socialization. like, genuinely. impressionable teens spending time on the wrong side of the internet and not enough time around people where they could see first-hand the consequences of their actions. these people only ever act like this online because they think they're being cool and edgy.
to some degree i can understand it, because there is the same phenomenon on the other side of the chronically online spectrum where people see things in black/white with little nuance, so they're quick to label others as good/bad without taking time to understand their situation or that people in general are imperfect and prone to mistakes. it kind of makes two equally as irritating sides of the spectrum. but then you close your laptop and these people do not exist because again, they will never be like this IRL. they're almost always meek and non-confrontational.
i could also go on and on about the general rise in conservatism and purity-culture online which is also definitely not helping with these wannabe alt-right edgelord teens but honestly that's a whole other can of worms. it's really unfortunate because they are such a loud minority but honestly, just blocking people and not giving them attention is the quickest way to get them to shut up. if they don't get a reaction they don't see a point in saying anything. it's all for ragebait and internet brownie points.
thank you! this is very thoughtful piece and i honestly should have added this in here. i was just going on very much feelings rant. i usually block them because of course they're not worth anyones time. but they're everywhere for a example on youtube i listen to alot for nightcore and 99 precent of the time there are bunch of nazi dogwhistles in the comments. but whether way thank you! this paragraph is much appreciated!
