Music has always been an outlet to express my inner emotions. Tonight I listened to "On the Nature of Daylight" composed by Max Richter. The sound waves reached my inner soul and tears flowed. A veil of unknowing haunts me as I wait to get answers regarding cancer. I've had this dance before. Nine years of brutal treatment that ended May of last year. And here, I find myself in August, nearly a full decade since I was told the disease had been completely removed, I wait to see if it's re-emerged. The egotistical audacity of this villain. I'd finally been comfortable to fully embrace what time I have left...dancing again, singing, writing, traveling and experiencing moments of euphoria instead of pain and worry.
Exhaustion envelops me, but I made a promise. I'll always keep that promise.
