Periods

Periods

Periods are exhausting. You get punched in the guts every month by mother nature instead of her being like 'Congrats, youre not pregnant!' and leaving again.

The worst part? So many men (not all, but SOME nice fellas) telling women that 'It's not that bad' or that they're 'just being dramatic', while so many women have Endometriosis. If you're a man reading this please just don't say things like that. Thanks.

Also, why does asking for a pad/tampon feel like dealing drugs? In my opinion, society treating periods lile a taboo topic is such a nonsence. It's a natural thing! Here's an example:

My friend asked me for a band-aid in the classroom. Normal thing. But ask for a tampon? You have to whisper and when you get it, try and shove it in your pocket as fast as possible so no one sees!

It honestly makes me sad and angry too. Bleeding is bleeding. Doesn't matter from where the blood comes. So why should it be treated differently?

What are your thoughts on this topic? Let me know if you wanna.

Thanks for reading my blog,

Fenx

yes!!! but also, i've started taking back my power in those situations. i speak openly to employers, professors, and peers in situations where its necessary. i refuse to live my adult life tiptoeing around a perfectly normal and natural occurrence (shoot, i'm the one whos truly going through the real discomfort of it sozzz...)

like, i wont be crass/tasteless but if my friends are asking me to go out and play sports, i candidly let them know "i'll catch y'all another time, im on my period and not feeling well" no biggie! or if my professor asks why i might be absent or leave during class, i'll politely let them know i'm cramping or it's that time of the month.

i think the biggest thing that's helped me take some of that societal shame and kick it to the curb is not hiding my feminine products. i don't whisper or sneak, i just ask for a tampon or pad as if its a normal item and carry it with me (bc like,, who is going to do anything about it lol). there's nothing gross or shameful about them, so why should i remain conditioned to act as such, yaknow!

i think you're so right to point stuff like this out, because i feel like its so ingrained and makes it seem taboo when it's genuinely not!

this is so true !!!!

it always feels embarrassing to say im on my period too?? like.. it really shouldnt be like that. its natural so why should i feel so awkward about it? i think because you see so many guys say stuff about periods i guess we might feel judged to say it.. i really wish it wasnt that way :[
