Physical Media Will Save Us

FFFFUCK CORPORATE GREED

Look, friends. I understand that streaming and at-will, instant gratification services are convenient. Of course they are. They are designed to be - but only if the convenience is simply having temporary access to whatever content is being offered. Be it film, music, literature, video games, etc., if people want it, there is a shitty corporation offering a proprietary service to give you access for a fee. 

The purpose of this is for these greedy, piece of shit corporations to build an ecosystem that ensnares you and makes you not be able to function without them. It's really simple honestly, we live in a global economic system that does a lot of really fucky things. At no point, EVER, should anyone genuinely trust that some multi-billion/trillion dollar (USD) mega-corp has your best interests in mind.

A great example is this very website. Social media used to be expressive, free from ads, trackers, AI, etc.. Furthermore, the internet itself used to be more free and anonymous. I hope FR remains what it is and grows on the ideals of the early days of social media.

 But I digress...

The purpose of this blog post is to remind you to pirate everything. Safely. Seriously, fuck these companies. If you can support artists, studios or whatever directly, please do so. But do not feel shame for pirating film, movies, or even games and burning them to physical media to keep in perpetuity. Get a dedicated MP3 player so you never lose your music. Go to secondhand stores and grab DVDs, VHS tapes, CDs, whatever if you are a physical collector. 

We used to actually OWN the shit we paid for. That is not the case anymore. Everything is digital with a license attached to it with a bible's worth of legal speak to ensure that you never actually own anything and can't fight it in court even when they rob you by removing access to your purchase by citing the "agreement" you accepted.

It's really that black and white. or MONOCHROME, if you will. It makes you really think .tf is going on.
