Speaking of creating stories, characters, and so on, I find that I end up wanting to create something that’s too unique, and in the end, I don’t even remember those ideas or develop them any further. The other day, I caught myself thinking that maybe creating something considered “generic” isn’t so bad after all, maybe it even helps unleash creativity for those who constantly struggle with writer’s block (like me, lol). As a creator, I think we get too caught up in something that’s supposed to be liberating, and so creating something unique becomes a necessity rather than something natural; that’s why I think, sometimes, the most creative ideas can come from concepts we consider repetitive or even too generic. Idk if that makes sense, but I hope someone gets it

omg this is how i feel all the time when writing stories for my ocs. like i want something that no one else has thought of which typically leads to a less enjoyable writing experience cuz i'm trying to be unique.
it's why, as a practice, i write generic short stories with common tropes to remind myself that writing can still be fun lol.
Exactlyyyy, there’s no point in writing a unique and different story if the person writing it isn’t having fun or enjoying it. I think it’s perhaps natural for human beings to put perfection above everything else—even a hobby that’s supposed to help us relax
