The water is so blue

Down at the quarry

So forlorn at the edge of town

Or is it the world?

The water is so blue

And measureless

From where it bubbles

Up from the unknown

The depths so boundless

So azure and pure

The clearest water

More blue than sky

Many boys have come

By cover of moonlight

To leap into the depths

Some leave braver men

And others chilled to the bones

But still some

Have never left at all
