Random stuff I do as a beginner green witch!!

Hello everypony!!!!!!!!!!!

I am currently sick as a dog and can't fall asleep so I'm going to yap a bit bc I've been meaning to start posting actual blogs for a while now. I don't wanna fill this up w too much fluff so I'll just get right into it heheh

As I said in the title, I am very much a beginner in the green witch practice so if there's any more experienced witches currently reading this I'd love to hear your thoughts and any tips you'd like to share! I want to learn.

Once thing I do is collect crystals. Lots of em. While they aren't the primary focus of the practice, I find that they come in very useful in my everyday life and overall make me feel happier, healthier, and more fulfilled as I walk the green path. They also help me deepen my bond both with my own energy and that of the natural world, like for example I use a lot of quartz around my plants to encourage growth. Since quartz is a general all-purpose crystal, I program mine to bring in the energy of abundance so my plants have more incentive to thrive :) paired with jade, my little green space in my bathroom feels ten times more lively. Besides this, I like to carry crystals in my pockets that I feel suit the situation at hand. For example, I always take my moonstone with me when I leave the house as it is known to protect you while travelling. Or when I need to be financially responsible, I keep my olive jade close. For logical clarity, I have my piece of lapis. So on and so forth. A crystal a day keeps the bad vibes away!

Next up, I've started trying to germinate herb seeds! It is said green magic is more powerful when you grow the plants you use yourself, and that is exactly what I'm trying to do. So far I have 5 individual pots for lavender, rosemary, sage, basil and thyme. I would have liked to get more, but the other herbs I was looking for didn't have any seeds in stock. I'll be on the lookout though, and I'll post updates if any of my herbs successfully sprout!

Another thing I do is moon rituals. There are many out there, but because a big part of the green path is interpreting and creating your own traditions and way of worship, I kinda make some stuff up on my own. For example, earlier this month we had a new moon. To honour that, I shifted my evening shower from a cleansing ritual (every time I shower I imagine I'm washing any negative or messy energy away) to a sort of reflection session. Because in my mind, the new moon signifies doing a little reset and changing your perspective just as the moon "rolls over", so to speak. I put my moonstone on my shower shelf next to me, and praised and thanked the moon whilst imagining my perspective and intuition shifting. It was a very simple ritual but afterwards I felt like I was peering at the world with newer eyes than before. And I think that's cool!

Moving on, I like to read up on topics related to my practice for both inspiration and information. Arin Murphy-Hiscock's Green Witch books of course are must haves, but I also have a book on crystals which I really like (Crystal Companions by Jessica Lahoud), and I intend to also buy some little field guides to local flowers, trees and fungi found in my area, as well as a farmers almanac, so I can learn to grow and harvest plants in sync with the natural cycles of our world. Some of these books are harder to find than others, but eventually I want to have a nice shelf with a variety of useful sources to use as points of reference over and over again in my witchcraft.

Lastly, as it may already be obvious, I improvise a lot. My main example being that while candles and fire in general as well as incense and essential oils are used quite often in witchcraft, I can't use any of those things because I have a lot of animal companions that would be seriously harmed by the use of these things (shoutout to my birds). So instead, I employ the use of stuff like steam from hot water, or if I wish to invoke the fire element for anything, I simply imagine the fire in my mind to invite its energy. It isn't much, but I think it's enough. I also use alternatives to smoke cleansing, such as using water or the moon to cleanse. I also plan to acquire some bells so I can cleanse my room and other things by ringing them.

Overall, I'm pretty excited to walk the green path. It is a big learning curve, but I am at my most content when I feel I am bonding and connecting with the natural world, and all of these little things heal me deeply and as a bonus connect me to my therianthropy, which I may yap more about another time. I highly recommend giving the green path a try if you want to get closer to nature and believe that the natural world is sacred. :)

So that's it! This turned into quite a ramble, so if you made it this far thank you! I hope this was an interesting read. Comment below if you have any ideas or suggestions for what I should post about next! :P take care!!

Remember to make the world you wanna live in!!!!!
