Reading popular books

I feel like every time i try to read a super popular book it just like falls flat? i feel like all of the overhyping on tiktok and other social media makes my expectations crazy high and then its just like... i dont even know it just irks me.

like i thought acotar was going to be the best thing ive ever read and then it was just like normal fantasy book i feel like. maybe i dont give the series enough of a chance,,, but i feel like if i cant finish the series after reading two and a half books maybe im not the issue.

And the same thing with fourth wing like it is a new concept to me but only because its like a couple concepts mixed together to keep it fresh yk? i did finish the first book but i bought both the books at once like a dummy so the second one sat untouched for MONTHS,,, like it has been sitting there since probably a year and a half ago. i finally started reading it and its not that bad but just a little annoying...

maybe im being too harsh on these books because im hyper critical of the typical demographic of them but idk. please share any thoughts you guys have on the topic! I need more reader friends ₍^ >ヮ<^₎ .ᐟ.ᐟ
