Regaining Motivation

On the other site, I wrote a blog about losing the motivation of creating and posting YouTube videos. At the time, I felt defeated because I don't have very many subscribers and the videos I have posted don't get many views. I also mentioned that I didn't know if the topic of genealogy is uninteresting or if I am just uninteresting. That being said, there is a plethora of genealogy content already on YouTube that's been there for a while. So, I was already competing in a big field.

So, where am I going with all this. Well, I  decided that I have about three more videos specifically related to genealogy that I'm going to put up - hopefully I can get them done within the next month. Then the channel will go dormant for a little while. The reason for the dormancy will be preparing the channel to go in a different direction. It'll still be peripherally related to genealogy but different enough that I will have to change the name of the channel. Even with a channel name change, all of the videos currently there will still remain.

I think one of the most important things about the channel is that I finally decided why I am doing it. Ultimately, it's come down to that I'm doing it for myself. A little for posterity in that I want to leave a little bit of myself behind. Previously, my goal was to hope to quickly monetize channel. Now, if the channel takes off fine, if not, that's fine too - I will have a permanent video record of my hobby.
