ren faire... -_-

date: august 23rd, 2026
listening to: candi - dancing under a latin moon

good evening everyone... sigh. well i'm saddened to report that the ren faire was a horrible disappointment. let me tell you why:

first off, we woke up early and drove about 3 hours to get there, just to have to wait another 3 hours in line in the blazing sun with no access to water or shade. it got to the point where my little brother, who was super excited about this faire, had to tap out completely and go back to the car for the entire thing because he was so dizzy and nauseous from the heat.

then after that, once we finally got in, they gave me and my best friend 19+ bracelets without even verifying my best friend's id (luckily she is 19, but they were giving them to minors). and for some reason they made her leave her two unopened drinks at the entrance but still let her go in with the pepsi she was actively drinking in plain view ?? anyway

by the time we finally got to go in, i was genuinely in too much pain + too tired from the heat to even do anything, so i had to sit at a picnic table the entire time while my friend went off and looked at everything without me. (which i don't blame her for, she wanted to have fun while we were there so she did)

we didn't get to eat there, since all the food was apparently sold with a ticket system (as in you needed a certain amount of tickets to buy food), which was NOT specified on their website, and i was not going to wait in another 40 minute line just for (according to others' reviews) a burnt turkey leg or a $12 lemonade in a plastic cup. it just wasn't worth it

not to mention, they were selling alcohol EVERYWHERE. literally one of the first stalls when you walk in was selling alcohol. i told my mother about that and she was furious; she told me that at this one festival in my hometown, they'd have a single tent selling alcohol where they'd check ids at the entrance, and people who bought alcohol in there were not allowed to leave the tent until they finished it. they'd have security at both entrances to make sure no one who was drunk could leave. at the ren faire however, there was NO security, NO checking ids at individual stalls, and as i said before, they were giving MINORS the bracelets that granted them 19+ access, which means they were giving minors the ability to purchase alcohol, which is obviously illegal. someone on facebook said they reported the organizers to the correct authorities, which is a good idea. i also left a very strongly-worded review on their facebook page. i am very disappointed and i won't be going back next year!

this is all i have to say tonight, thanks for reading guys. goodnight :]
